Queensland braced for flash flooding, monsoonal rain in worst weather since 2011 flood disaster

Queensland braced for flash flooding, monsoonal rain in worst weather since 2011 flood disaster.

Rain bucketed down and I mean bucketed down all day yesterday and all night last night and continues to bucket down today. The creek at the rear of our place has risen dramatically and is now raging. Our back yard looks like a child's wading pool and our garage and down stairs area is on the verge of flooding. My tumble dryer exploded in protest yesterday I could almost hear it sigh "oh no not monsoonal rain and flooding again, I'm outta here!!" Clothes on folding airers on our covered veranda are sodden due to the torrential nature the rain. A new tumble dryer sorted but not arriving for another week dammit. Not looking promising for Stu's business that has a stall at the Noosa gourmet foodie farmers market tomorrow and at other locations over the weekend. I am guessing they will be cancelled at this rate. Weather conditions feel very familiar to this time last year when much of Queensland was flooded. God I hope we are not in for a repeat performance. Makes me anxious just thinking about it sigh!

Hi Kimmie, I was reading in the paper this morning that QLD was headed for some terrible weather, lets hope it passes soon.

Sorry you are so soggy up there. It's hot down this way but dry as a bone. Great pics of the huge rain drops falling. Hope you get a reprieve soon,

Cheers- Joolz

Uh oh not again! Hope the rain passes quickly without too much damage. We are hanging out for just a little bit down here :)

Stay safe Kimmie!

Hi Kimmie
We have similar conditions here at the moment too! Exceptional rainfall and hectic thunder storms which last all day and well into the night. Odd for Johannesburg! Our garden and pool flood within 20 minutes of a downpour, our drainage pimps are battling to dispel the build up of water and the river at the bottom of our property keeps flooding it's banks!
Praying that all will be well on your side!

Hope it stops soon and isn't a repeat of last year.

BB, please be very Extra Careful around creeks and running water; currents can sweep up a child, an animal, a vehicle into a maelstrom of hugely powerful water. There's a woman whose 12-year old son was swept away and drowned in a situation eerily familiar to the way you describe your back yard stream.

Hope it isn't as bad this year as last year Kimmie. Bummer that Heartpoet's Markets will probably be cancelled this week. We had close to 100 mls (4 inches) of rain overnight and supposed to be more tonight.
