The Big Wet - Monday Morning Thoughts - Australia Day Public Holiday

The big wet - battered again overnight with gale force winds and torrential rain. No let up this morning. Garden is trashed. Flooded repeatedly downstairs - garage, spare room, storage area/rumpus, 2nd bathroom and laundry. I am sure you have all seen on the news just how horrible it is weather wise in Sth East Qld Australia at present.

Frantic neighbour (a few houses up, on same side of road as us) looking for a Golden Labrador pup. They had been pet sitting for friends who are attending an interstate funeral. There is no way out of neighbours yard in normal conditions. They think the pup was swept out by the rising flood water at the rear of our homes whilst they were at work. There is no sign of him :(

Sight seeing gawkers go home!! My street is not a reality TV show.

The sounds of emergency services sirens wailing.

A 4WD came down our street before with 2 young guys and a canoe? In raging flood waters FFS!!!! The emergency services crews risk their lives saving these dumb bunnies :/

Lady and her young son near Kedron Brook (same brook that is behind our place) hit today by fallen tree - mother has severe head and leg injuries, daughter severe leg injuries. Chainsaw was used to cut them free :/

Heartpoet is out front trying to save a baby rainbow lorikeet that is flapping around frantically in flood water. The wildlife take a battering at times like these.

Poor Silas (our German Shepherd pup) has totally gone of his food. He usually wolfs it down. Stressed re the flooding methinks.

Hot, humid, wet and soggy...not a great combo.

No work for Heartpoet this weekend or next Wednesday (gourmet foodie farmers markets all cancelled). Hoping they reopen without issue this coming weekend and not remain shut for weeks on end like last big flood. Still recovering financially from the last big flood sigh. Stressed.

Treated for a UTI (never get them), banged my thumb in a door jamb months ago and nail decides to come off in the most painful of ways today, got my period and have a sore toe. It never rains but it pours - literally in this case sigh.

Poor Terry (our resident (univited mind you) back yard bush turkey) is taking a breather on the front veranda steps with Heartpoet. Heartpoet is hand feeding him some seed and bread crusts. Must have been a rough few nights out there for him poor fella. It's a jungle out there Terry lol.

My prayers are for protection for you and your home and for your neighbors; what a mess you describe. Even the turkey is confused. The storms sound awful, and I hope the sun shines soon for you.

There is nothing like telling it how it is! I think you need to take a Bex and have a good lie down, ya poor thing!
I cannot believe the stupidity of these idiots careering around the streets in the flood waters.
The pictures on TV of kids wading along wild sea water - where are their parents? They could be knocked pff their feet and swept out and then who had to deal with the rescue? Ridiculous behaviour!

Oh how awful Kimmie! Sending positive thoughts that the floods will recede quickly, the weather clear up and the lost puppy is found. Hugs
